Legal requirements for fire extinguisher training
According to the Fire Safety (Employees' Capabilities) (England) Regulations 2010, it is the duty of the employer to consider the capabilities of the employee when entrusting any duties to that employee regarding fire safety. As per these regulations, fire extinguisher training is mandatory for at least one employee who is trained to use the fire extinguisher to eliminate the fire, especially when it is recommended in the fire risk assessment. Non-compliance with this legal requirement can leave the employer liable for any damage to the property or injuries to individuals, leading to hefty fines or even jail time. Adhering to these regulations is crucial to avoid legal consequences and ensure the safety of everyone in the workplace.
